6-MONTH INTENSIVE TRANSLATION MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
As an NEA translation fellow and a PEN/Heim winner, I’ve gained hard-won wisdom as to what it takes to not only get started in translation, but to have your projects get traction and get published, all while writing winning proposals for grants, awards & fellowships.
And, because of my near decade-long contribution building the public and private programming of the translation collective I co-founded in Chicago, TCTC, I bring workshopping experience with translators working from Arabic and Serbian to Ukrainian, Basque and beyond, making my mentorship language-agnostic.
Here’s what my customizable, 6-month 1:1 mentoring program includes:
Weekly/Bi-weekly 90-minute sessions tailored to your specific needs, whether you’re just starting out on a project or ready to pitch it
Ongoing manuscript editing, suggested auxiliary reading
Advice on publication, submissions, editorial outreach
Guidance on appropriate fellowships, grants, awards, and residencies
Guidance on marketing and building a social media presence
Ongoing email and text support for the duration of the program
Whatever you’re working on, I will tailor this program to a frequency that fits you and your specific needs.
“It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that having Izidora as my mentor during EKF’s Translation Academy was one of the most positive experiences I’ve had in my translation career. I left our 1:1 sessions with newfound confidence and plenty of ideas on not only how to further develop my translation skills but also on strategies to contact publishers and make the all-important connections within the industry. Izidora is very creative, composed, encouraging, and readily on hand with constructive advice on all things translation. She is a wonderful mentor who listens carefully and engages with her mentee’s particular needs.”

“Izidora's command of both English and Bulgarian is nothing short of masterful, and her boundless knowledge of the idiomatic nuances of each language allowed my short stories to flow across cultures. With her refined stylistic intuition and impeccable ear for tone, she transformed the translation process into an art form, capturing not only the words but the very spirit of the original text.”
